Danny Fry from Southern Oregon has been accepted as a new board member to the ACLB.

Finally, someone can represent us from here.

Danny has 30+ years in the business, is a Certified General, USPAP instructor and has the Real Estate School in Medford.

She will be such a refreshing addition to the board.

So, who is willing to pony up and go to the next board meeting on July 22!

Let's welcome her and support her:clapping:

Michelle - I know nothing whatsoever about this new appointment but my advice is to be somewhat garded until you see where she is going. Remember, don't believe anything you hear and only about half of what you see.

    that is how many now?

Perhaps only those with USPAP instructor certificates(?) and that run business models that include CE for fun and profit are applying for the board seats as resume builders and to be on the front of new stuff for their CE classes.... You know, take a CE class from ME because I sit on the board and know what I am talking about!!!

So maybe that is all that is going on, they see a profit in it for themselves as some payback for the public service. That has nothing inherently bad about it. However, that said, I am not completely sure the current trend of the last two board replacements both being USPAP instructors and CE course provider sources for appraisers in Oregon is all that good for Oregon's appraisers. I'm not sure how to react to this news. If you ask me, all of the "Appraiser" representation on the board just got more than a little heavy regarding what I certainly hope does NOT turn into a special interest group sitting on our board.

If there were other applicants for the board position .... it needs to be asked.... Why did we just have two in a row selected that both are USPAP instructors and both run CE education businesses for real estate appraisers? .. Why? .. What was wrong with the other applicants if there were any? I am sure the resulting board could be a very good one. But if it turns into a "Good Ol' Boy" club that would NOT be good at all.

Geeze, Webbed. You seem to understand some of the issues pretty well... why do you think I wanted you to replace me?

There are (were) only 11 certified USPAP instructors in all of OR and 3 of those are on the board/Administrator. They all teach (make a little pocket change on the side) and are involved with schools. There were 1,750 appraisers mol in the state - you can read that as captive appraisers from which to extract tuition. Ah... so what?

I don't think that there's anybody on the board now who cares, truely understands the issues facing residential appraisers, and is willing to stand up for them. The residential appraisers seem to be nothing more than cash cows from which to extract fees - kinda like lambs to the slaugther.

I'm sorry but it's not my problem or worry any more - I tried.

    Oregon Doug
