I'm thinking of becoming a member and going for the SRA designation. Do only the CE classes approved by the AI qualify? Or, can I take approved CE credits from any body and apply them to the SRA? I'm going to check out my local AI chapter to ask these questions, but just wondered if anyone knows how this works. Thanks!

In the old days (70's) you had to take their classes. I believe they will count other providers for CE, but the requirements are specific classes that they offer plus writing demo, etc.
