I hate ACI. I've only been using ACI for a short time, but it really is not as user friendly as my old software. For 12 years I've used Appraise-It by SFREP, and while it has MANY faults there are at least 3 things that it does SO MUCH BETTER than ACI. (1) The form is a continuous scroll. As you scroll down Page 1, it just scrolls right into Page 2 and so on until Page 6 (for a 1004.) No stupid tabs at the bottom. (2) Hot keys are MUCH easier to set and to use. If I'm at the point where I want to put in the Exterior Walls, for ACI I have to hit F5 and then scroll to the one that I want to use. With Appraise-It, I hit F1 or F2, etc and it pops right in. The only advantage to ACI here is that Appraise-It only goes to F8 while ACI is "endless" in the different Exterior Wall types that I can enter. (3) The lender/client database. This is the reason for this post. I REALLY don't know why ACI's lender/client database is SO ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE but it is. With Appraise-It, at any time I can open up the Lender Database, and add, delete, or modify the lenders and their data. On my Appraise-It, I have hundreds of uniquely identified lenders and clients and if there is a change in their info, I can just pull it up and change it. Voila. With ACI...it's a DISASTER! I put the Lender/Client name and address in the Lender/Client line on Page 1. Then when I go to close the report, it asks to either add the Lender/Client or associate it with an existing one. If I associate it, the next time that I open and then close that report it will ask me agin. Frustrating! If I make it a Common Response, it only adds in some information that it puts in automatically. When I go to use that lender again on another report, I hit the common response, choose the lender and I get the lender's name and street address...and THAT'S IT! No suite number, city, state, zip code...nothing! TERRIBLE! Worse, I seem to have a problem with a certain's lender's name that must be too long. Let's say that the lender's name is Michigan Choice Lending Institute, LLC. (I just made that up, btw...so if there REALLY IS such a company, it's entirely coincidental.) Anyway, I use this lender ALL THE TIME and EVERY TIME I make a new report with this lender, when I go to close the report, I get the message "Add or Associate?" It seems to cut off the ending so it reads Michigan Choice Lending Institute, LL so it doesn't recognize that I've already put it in the database SEVERAL TIMES!!! I now have 12 different entries for this ONE lender! I have to keep giving it different IDs such as MILEND1, MILEND2, and so on. TERRIBLE! Is there ANYWAY to alter, edit, delete, modify or otherwise FIX THE DARN LENDER/CLIENT DATABASE?!?!!!?!?!?!? I'd like to clean it up so that there is only 1 entry for this lender and it's one address. I'd hate to see what would happen if I started getting work from this one lender but from a different address. Oy. Thanks. If ACI could make just their software like Appraise-It so that the forms are a continuous scroll instead of those stupid tabs; had hot keys that put in info with only 1 key; and had a REAL, WORKING lender database then it'd be SO MUCH BETTER and save a BUNCH of time per job. Small things, really, but they add up. I can do the same report in Appraise-It at least 5% faster, and in our business, that's a BIG help.
