I have been thinking of expanding into other areas of real estate (home inspection, sales broker), but am concerned about some of the potential problems. What I don't want, is to be appraising a home, and liable for home inspection issues, or list a home with a CMA but have to follow USPAP. I know a few basics, such as keeping everything separate, separate cards, separate companies. Don't appraiser a home you are the agent for, but can you appraise and inspect the same home? I would want to take advantage of my contacts from appraising also. As it is, I send out quite a bit of referrals for these services.
