Speaking of REO work. How did you guys start doing REO assignments? I'm thinking about branching out and starting to do these, but I find very few course offerings talking about REO appraising. Where should I begin?

    Thanks,
    Jerry

Do a google search on reo. You will find tons of stuff.

Do an reo search against this forum. You will find answers to questions you did not even know existed.

Yes, I've been pulling my hair out trying to get google to give me what I want. And as for this forum, I keep getting an error message when I search. I went to the Appraisal Institute's website and they have no seminar or class for REO/Foreclosed properties. NAIFA has a single class, but I know nothing about that organization. Maybe I'm thinking that it is harder to get into than it is.

When I asked an Appraisal Management Company about REOs yesterday I was told that most REOs are not found in cities, but way out in the less developed towns. So far every appraiser I've talked to says Ocwen is the only REO AMC they know of. We won't use Ocwen anymore, but perhaps you should try them.
