    hola,

I'm looking for a Sokkia/Eslon Appraisers Tape Measure. If you know anybody that has them in stock, please identify them.

I want a model with 1/10 th inches, either model 845674 or 845274, see the attachment.

I'd also consider another brand which is the same style. I've already considered and don't want a Hammerhead style tape due to the awkward case design.

    muchas gracias.

You can get a 100' contractors tape of almost the exact design in almost any hardware store or Home Depot for sure. They're less than $25 and sometimes under $20. They're usually yellow and have inches on one side and metric on the other. You can make the large hook for a giant size cotter pin. John Hassler gets them and offers to sell them to anyone who asks.

I have found a tape similar to this at Home Depot and the local Ace Hardware store.

The tape measure I buy has a larger middle so winding up the tape takes half the time.

There is no difference, except the tape measure I buy is yellow, not red, and has the larger middle. Costs about $20. I have to buy more than one a year, too. They tend to get brittle at the end and break off. I have covered them with electrical tape, used staples to repair, etc.

Just one of those things when the tape hits the opening, it invariably hits with a twist and wears down the fiberglass. Doesn't help when you are measuring houses in below zero weather, either . . .

Wonder how much more they charge cuz they call it "aappraisal" tape measure?

Just double checked my Ace tape measure, 100', 1/10th on the yellow side - called a contractor's tape measure, I believe.

    gracias por las respuestas rĂ¡pidas.

I've contacted numerous possible sources (including those provided above and many more), most have said they have the item back orderd. I contacted Sokkia, they said the factory was moved last summer, they have not received any shipments since then, it'll be at least another several months before they receive any shipments and most vendors have the item back ordered. Some vendors claim the tape measures have been discontinued, Sokkia said they are still active but they are waiting on the factory.

After boo koo phone calls I finally tracked down a small company in Dallas that had one tape left in stock and ordered that. This is one of the last (if not the last) one available.

Fyi, there is a guy on Craigslist in NC Raleigh/Durham area that has a used one for sale but he does not want to mail it. Search the web to find it if interested.

I've also checked out my local home improvement stores, but did not like their tapes. I don't like the high speed rewind, they often have gears which tend to get dirty and jam. Reeling the tape in is not an issue and keeps me in practice for my fishing excursions. They also lack the hook end. Their flip out end piece is smaller than my other flip out tapes and looks like it may slip off a house corner.

    muchas gracias.
