I'm a licensed appraiser in Texas, currently trying to finish my certified residential. However, TALCB just sent me an email asking me to submit a photograph of myself and of my sponsor. They would not tell me why they need these photographs.

Has anyone else experienced something like this? Any idea why they're asking for this? Up until now the process has gone exactly like my application for licensed residential, so the fact they're now asking for personal/seemingly irrelevant information, has kinda got me anxious.

Please let me known if you have any insight into this. Thanks

Perhaps a sign of the times; IE: verification that you are who you say you are and be sure two forms of ID when heading to the exam, one may require your photo, such as a Drivers License.

I am in the process of renewing my dc license and I have to upload a a photo. They are going to put the photo on the license.

asking for personal/seemingly irrelevant information,
You are the one applying for a license. Why is a photo "personal/seemingly irrelevant"?
Did you perform the work that you claimed to have performed? If so, why the concern? Do you feel that the state is not allowed to verify your claim(s) as part of their vetting process?

I've had to submit a photograph, fingerprints, and a background check.....just to get renew a license. Next requirement will be to submit all your Twitter and Facebook comments.

thanks to most of you for the legitimate and helpful responses. the wiseases know who they are and that's good enough.

thanks again for the additional info.

What do you mean, they wouldn't tell you? When you called them, did they say "I can't tell you, it's a secret"? or "If I told you, I'd have to kill you" ??

Alright yall, yes, I've been going through this process for some time. I have been working with this state board through my appraiser trainee license, my licensed residential, and no finalizing my certified residential. my question is because the process has been the same thing over and over, and i've never had them ask me for a personal photo before. i have gotten my fingerprints done at the place downtown and submitted all required paperwork; i'm just curious about the photograph thing and why it isn't mentioned on the website. all of the other requirements are clearly outlined. seemed weird is all. i fully intend to comply since i know i did everything honestly, however i don't really like the idea of sending in selfies without a valid explanation.

cheers

You just checked the website? You made it sound like you called and they wouldn't tell you. Why don't you just give them a call?
