What is it like being a staff appraiser now a days for one of the AMCs?

    Just curious if some of those that are staff appraiser who work for AMCs feel about their jobs?
    Work load? Pressure? Underwriting? Stips? Good deal for the borrower?

    Who knows. They're probably kept in an iron box and brought out in shackles only when they're needed.

    Probably have to sign a non disclosure agreement which is why we don't find them posting here.

    Edit: Yeah, you're probably right. I'm certainly abandoning this thread! I was just kidding.

    They're too busy (90 hour weeks) making lots and lots of money at $95/pop :rof: :Emoticon_hug:

    Local guy here went to B of A. 10 a week, endless stips, they told him he would get cookie cutter stuff and then sent him rural stuff.

    He lasted three months.

    WTH happened......
    I would gladly go back to work at World Savings (20years ago) at my old salary (24K) given the current state of affairs. They gave us a new Impala (to use full time), free gas, week ends, health insurance, paid classes, and generous bonuses..... Yes there was a quota (10 per week), but the reports were only 2 pages long, no stips, no interference, weekend wholesale reviews if you chose too. Oh and company baseball games, what a life..... and a lot of fun....

    I can't imagine anyone having fun in this business anymore.... :fiddle:

    There are so many benifits to being a staff appraiser, I could go on and on.. I think my personal favorite is picking and choosing your orders, absolutely fantastic!!

    The biggest misconception about a staff job is pay. Once you factor in benifits, expenses, etc the pay per report is very near what any other appraiser makes.. Heck I billed over $700 last month just for mileage, and I live in cookie cutter USA!!

    I have been on both sides of the river, and was VERY apprehensive about taking the job, I am now absolutely positive I made the right decision..

    You can say this and that, assume this and that, and it may make you feel better, but the assumptions made about being a staff appraiser does not make it any more true. Period.
