Default Howdy folks!

I joined a few weeks back but so far I've been mostly lurking. After reading posts on here its pretty clear that I have alot to learn, so I guess I'll be sticking around for awhile.

A little info on me- I'm 31 and have lived in southern Oklahoma most of my life. My Step-Dad has been Certified Residential since the early 80's, and took me on as a trainee in '06. I got certified in Texas in '08. I did my training and my first few years as an appraiser in the DFW area, as that's where I was living at the time, and where alot of his clients were. I'm certified in Oklahoma now and living back in my home town about 90min north of Dallas, the big city just wasn't for me.

I don't really have much to offer the board since I'm a relatively new appraiser, I'm mainly here to leech off of y'alls infinite knowledge , try to better myself as an appraiser, and try to raise the bar as far as what local lenders in my area expect from an appraiser/appraisal.

Welcome,

Jump right in and have fun posting. Doesn't matter if you're a newbie, we learn a lot from newbies because they see things with fresh eyes that some of the old well worn (hum) old guys fail to see or recognize.

Some really great posts have come from newbies here (reference Meta here and a few others), so don't be afraid, put on your bullet proof vest, don't take anything personal, and join in. There is always things to discuss and hash out.

Don't sell yourself short; you may not have a lot of experience, but a different perspective or set of circumstances can be of great value to the community.

Indeed. Feel free to take everything you read here with a HUGE grain of salt.

You'll be amazed at how even the most basic concepts will generate pages of dialogue about who is right in their interpretations and who should be using their state license as a beer coaster.

Oh, and welcome to the AF!

Not a problem, me correcting ALOT is a life long quest, drives me nuts. Trust me, you will never use that word again.

You can learn, eh, a lot here. Post a question, probably have the right answer in hours. For me, nuts and bolts tips about the biz is what I like the most. Just watch out for The Duck. Alot of people don't like him.
