Default Slow business?

Hi there,

Hope it's okay that I'm just jumping in, and I hope this is the right forum for this post.

My husband has been an appraiser for 8 years, and business has been very very slow since Christmas. Only about 4 orders, to be exact. Well, we obviously can't live on this, and I'm getting very worried about it all. I have a question about blacklisting in another forum that covers one reason I am so concerned.

My husband says that this is a slow time, that it will pick up. I'm just wondering if it's slow for anyone else right now? If so, when do you anticipate things picking up pace?

Thank you,

Tami

In the past this time of year has been slower than average. But this year I'm slammed and I can't figure out why. I've received about 23 orders since the 2nd of January.

I just hope it keeps up.

Wanna share the wealth?

I realize too it can be different in different parts of the country. We're in Oregon.

The phone rang a bit ago and we got all excited. It was the Muscular Dystrophy Association asking for contributions.

Working on continuing education hours for both the appraisal and RE license so in a way it's a blessing in dis-something.

Usually, biz trickles down to a few "gotta-have-it-by-year's-end" things by December 15th or so. Many folks don't return to work until the weekend after New Years.

I'm not especially concerned about it at the moment. Maybe next week will be a different story.

January is generally our slowest month. This one is no exception.

This is traditionally a slow time of the year, unless the FED decides to drop rates. I had 1 client send me 9 model homes they were refinancing for 2 builders (they will not like those values) and 9 REO's from another. This along with a few reviews and 5 misc. orders so it looks like this will be a good month.

I have never seen it this slow since the Carter years.

Slowest start to the year I've ever seen in 20+ yrs. Use the time to improve your education and start marketing to other users of valuation services: attorneys, accountants, etc.
