Frost on the Pumpkin this morning at feeding time just before daylight. Thirty-two degrees, this is what the row crop farmers were worried about. The degree days are way low this year already. Been one cool summer this year.
Depending where they planted it could have ended the growing season and corn is not yet ready. Many will have to chop in to stock feed. Until we hear how bad the frost was last night on the crops all we can say is “Well”. If it did put a damper on the growing season there will be a lot more row croppers in trouble and the grain prices will raise. This cool weather has been the salvation of the indoor water parks in the Dells. Kept people inside. It is killing the out side tourist attractions however. They are reporting business is still down 25% to 35% over two years ago. Many will not survive for next year. Condo-tel prices are still falling in the Dells with a 9 year inventory. |

Been unusually cool here also, lots of morning fog that never seems to burn off. Salmon are in the bay around a month early. Bodes for a long winter.

Same here in NorCal, except that it is still shorts and T shirt during the day. When the fog rolls in at night it is back to jeans and sweat shirts.

Holly cow Dale! How big is your house?
My bill was $107 last month. I'd die if I saw one for $700 - that's all summer for me. |

Fall must be on the way - some of the geese at our Greenbelt park have Minnesota accents.

I just called for coal prices yesterday. Nut/egg bit coal is up to $122/ton delivered. I paid $95 last year and $75 the year before. Still 2/3's less than oil but a wad of bills nevertheless.
Bring on the cold, I'm ready to ski. |

Seen flocks of ducks and Canadian geese coming through down here. Way too early for them.....usually. Ray, you better double-insulate that well or you're going to be hiking to the outhouse in the snow again.
