Default 2008 USPAP Update - Why?

My license expires in 30 days. Why do I have to take a 7 hour 2008 USPAP update when it changes in 60? Cannot they have an update to the new USPAP?

Because of the way license law (statutes) are written in most states. I, like you, believe it would be more effective to take the next version; however, we don't even have the document yet (my school).

Simple solution...don't wait until the last 90 days to do your update. Take it at the beginning of the cycle, not the end.

Did you consider completing the Update course 1-2 years ago when it would have been more relevant to your practice?

There is the 2010 7 Hour USPAP course now available online in GA, why not enroll in that course?

Take both, one to satisfy you CE requirements and the new one so you know what is going on with the changes...

lac1331 - Where is that 2010 update on-line course? If allowed, that would make sense. Yes to others, I know by waiting to the end I am defeating the purpose of the update.- bad habits are hard to break.

Heck don't feel bad, I was counting on the USPAP update course I took last year for my auctioneers and personal property license would cover my RE appraisal license. Same course, but I was told it would not. Now I am in a rush to take the dam thing December 1, 2009. Got to sit through the same eight hours of USPAP Bull poop and then it changes and I got to take the course in 2010 for the auctioneers again.

Ray,

Had you asked us about whether that course would count toward your RE appraisal license we could have told you about the requirement that your instructor be a state certified appraiser.
