To All Oregon Appraisers,
An overwhelming response from the Oregon Appraisers, lead to the Consumer Protection Committee PASSING HB3624 yesterday! The vote was 9 to 1 for passage! Representative Holvey stated that he received so many emails from Appraisers in the State of Oregon that he could not keep up with them. A huge thank you! Please pat yourselves on the back and do a happy dance! This is only the first round and we need to ask you all again to continue with your emails and phone calls! As soon as we know what the next step is, an email will be sent out. We must unite as Appraisers for the continuing success of HB3624.

Thanks for all your work on this Roscoeman! I know you have spent many hours driving, calling, etc. to get Oregon appraisers in the know on this legislation. You rock!

Does this legislation involve fee's that the AMC's pay to appraisers?

No it is a pretty weak @ss bill. No cap on fees, and no bond required to pay appraisers out of. Just an excuse for the State to collect more fees and say they are doing something. The big AMCs will register and you can complain to the State if they fail to pay, but all of the little POS AMCs poping up all over California will most likely not register, rack up a year or two of business, then go under stiffing appraisers tens of thousands of dollars in unpaid fees.

So then....they can still charge the borrower $700 for an appraisal, and then pay the appraiser $200? Great work.

Horrible bill. We need to get our fees not give the AMCs the right to control them.

The idea was to get something on the books and then fill in the blanks later. It's a step.
I'm surprised the bond isn't in there...it was in the draft at the hearing.
