Default 24 Years as a non-smoker!

I am celebrating my 24th year as a non-smoker!

I was once a heavy smoker, but quit in August, 1986.

You just have to ask yourself "am I worth it?". If the answer is yet, then do whatever you need to do to quit.

Congratulations !

How did you do it? I've smoked for over 40 years and have found it impossible to quit as I can't use any of the "aids".

A good buddy of mine who has smoked since the 70's, took chantix(sp), and quit.

I was always too cheap to buy cigarettes.

Just remember, those extra years you're adding to your life, those are the "drooling" years. A time filled with much concern regarding your choice of medicare providers, denture creams, and adult diapers.

Tom,
I likewise smoked for 40 years but was able to go "cold turkey" 18 months & 60 lbs ago. Now I am starting my 2nd week with Medifast and lost 11 lbs the first week. I tried every smoking aid possible but finally the Laser therapy worked. I highly recommend it!

Give me a call and I will gladly give you more details.

The only thing I can tell you is that you have to make up your mind that you never want to smoke again. Once it is made up and you can accept that you will never smoke again you are ready to quit.

The physical craving stops in about a week, it is all mental after that, and if you have made up your mind that you are a non-smoker now and smoking is something that is not an option for you, you can quit.

I did not gain weight when I quit, in fact if you will add some exercise into the mix it will make quitting easier.

And ask yourself "are you worth it"

Tom, from now on, when you light up, stick the lit end in your mouth. After a while you will lose the urge to light up at all. You won't crave food either, as your taste buds will be shot for a bit until your tongue heals.

After 2 back-to-back major surgeries (triple-bypass & double aortic aneurysm) and one prior heart attack, I finally quit 3 yrs ago. Now I have COPD. Smoked big time for 50 years, and every once in a while I get the feeling I would kill for a cigarette. I'm convinced that once you start, you never really quit. Kind of like being on meth, I guess. If I ever get diagnosed with some kind of terminal illness, you can bet your patootie that I am going to start buying cartons of cigs and smoke til I croak.

Congrats, Head Surfer!
