Default Can't believe this question from an underwriter.

UW Question: Will the street power lines be a detriment to value or marketability. Mind you these are normal power lines carrying electricity to the homes on the street. These are not high tension wires, cables etc. No high tension towers within miles this area.
I Had 2 comps on street within 1/4 mile/ walking distance.

This business is getting surreal...

I would think that properties WITHOUT power lines would be affected negatively...

Remember there used to be a checkbox for underground electricity? They took it away because no one cares . . .

I suppose it would fair to assume, if it is ever fair to assume, that along with all the decent experienced appraisers getting out of this business, that the decent experienced underwriters are as well.

Nope, I deal with many good, decent underwriters in doing VA Appraisals. Once in awhile one sees something they have a question about that seems like an odd question. Only takes a minute to answer most such questions.

Had one the other day(Non VA) that wanted the appraisal made subject to due to missing vinyl siding on the rear of the house. Looked at the photo and it was not missing vinyl siding at all. It was a brick chimney that made the area she described look dark and she thought it was missing siding. Cleared up in a nano second.
