Jacksonville lawyer, real estate investor charged in fraud scheme

Men are charged with 16 counts of fraud, money laundering and conspiracy, face life in prison.

Quote:
A Jacksonville lawyer and real estate investor were arrested Thursday by the FBI after their indictment on charges of masterminding a $22 million mortgage fraud scheme.

Real estate attorney Dale A. Beardsley, 58, was arrested without incident about 9 a.m. at his Lake Shore law office, where prosecutors said FBI agents seized reams of fraudulent loan documents. Beardsley was released on $500,000 bail agreed upon by his lawyers and prosecutors.

Investor Russell Lee Parker Jr., 51, surrendered Thursday afternoon, prosecutors said. They sought to have him held without bail.

"The strength of the evidence in this case is to include former employees of Mr. Beardsley's law firm that are prepared to testify [and] to include a current employee," Assistant U.S. Attorney Mark Devereaux told a federal magistrate. "We have obtained 16 boxes of documents and files."

"'Every loan file in those boxes was fraudulent,''' he said an employee at Beardsley's office told agents.
Just a beginning on the fraud happening here!!!!! I can hardly wait to find out who the skippy(s) are/were!!!

Quote:
Parker would then get a mortgage company in Jacksonville to process the investors' loan applications, often listing exaggerated or non-existent income and false asset information, Perez said. Parker, known as J.R., also would obtain inflated appraisals, keeping a portion of the loan money for himself, the indictment says.

Thank you for posting that, Pam!

My biggest hope is that the mainstream media and the American People won't dismiss this story as being trivial and unimportant, but I suspect that the vast majority will.

After all, right now we have more important matters to discuss.....like fake military documents, swiftboats, Michael Jackson's trial and Lacey Peterson's fetus. <_<

Yeah, well, Dee Dee! Some things are just more important than whether or not some previously middle class / working families are now on the bread line because of a bunch of crooks.

As long as the idiots reading about that stuff dont belong to one of those families, that is

Phil - Sir --- You are so correct - THANK YOU

It's a real shame that people can't pull their heads out and see that there is day light out here. Stop listening to the BS of everyone else and research the facts.

NPR had a bit on Real Estate, Mortgage and Appraisal fraud today. Some report out from the FBI that it is happening big time all across the country. I think they said into the billions of dollars. How they were starting to look at in a big way. It was on here (WIS) around 3 p.m.

Just maybe!!

Fox News just came out with the story ....

I was in Jacksonville today at an all day USPAP for the Appraisal Institute.

Something tells me we will be looking at a rewrite....

They are going to do away with Summary, Restricted, Limited - after 10 years -

of failing - this will happen in 2008.

Honesty can not be legislated
