The last online CE I took was boring, and lousy. I don't believe I learned anything.

I guess I expected animations, video or just some audio here and there. Computers are multimedia these days! I do not even think the pictures were in color!

Has anyone taken any good online CE classes lately?

Hi Kevin!

My name is Tracie Gray and I work as the Director of Regulatory Compliance for McKissock Appraisal School.

I'm sorry to hear about your experience with the most recent on-line continuing education course you have taken...... It must be very frustrating for you as a student to pay for a course, have certain expectations and then be dissapointed with the content and delivery of that course.

While I have no way of knowing if this was a course taken with our school or not, it is vital that we listen to all feedback from students, even if a course is taken with another provider. Rest assured that we are constantly striving to improve our courses, including the delivery for the on-line classes we offer such that they will be more "interactive", so to speak.

If, in fact, this was a course taken with us, please contact me directly at your earliest convenience to discuss the McKissock 100% Money Back Guarantee. We want you to be satisfied, 100%, with the classes you take from us and will do whatever it takes to keep you happy.

Again, thanks for posting this feedback. It is crucial for our future class development and delivery methods that we bring only the best to the table.

Have a great day!

Sincerely,
Tracie Gray
Director of Regulatory Compliance

Keith - I've taken two from the AI.

Appraising from Plans & Specs and I think the other one had to do with Appraising Manufactured Homes or something similar.

CE classes are not for grins and giggles. It's an evil necessity that we all have to have. While I'd like to think it could be fun - it's not. But I was able to take a 7 hour class in a much shorter time span. Did while I was watching a football game one morning and then a basketball game the next evening.

Just go with the flow and make the best of the time. Makes it go faster.

B) Just so you know where I stand. THERE ARE NO GOOD ONLINE CE COURSES

With online CE you are both the student and the instructor. There is no interaction. Little if any opportunity is available to ask questions and get feed back. They do serve a purpose where you have to meet a deadline to get CE, are incapacitated, unable to attend a face to face CE class for a host of physical reasons, or you have an aversion to crowds, people, or some other phobia. If you want interaction; to ask questions; learn from others; share your experiences; or any other social activity with other human beings, online CE is not the way to go.

Thanks Tracie Gray, it wasn't McKissock. I will have to look into your CE classes next.

I agree with the other posts. It's more of a convenience thing than anything else, and I have no right to complain The IDEA of online CE appeals to me.

I recommend you guys take advantages of broadband connections that are becoming standard. Streaming video, or at least some animations would be nice. I've seen web pages created by ten year olds more interesting and better designed than the class I took. It was a time waster.

Keith,

McKissock is very good for their online courses. I will take them
again when my license comes up for renewal.

Good Luck.

I just need another 2.5 hours, so a nice 4 hour Federal Laws and Regs course CA approved would be good. Since they require you to sign off that you read that stuff, if you didn't take a class specifically in Fed laws/Regs.

I see McKissock has a CA Laws and Regs, emailed Tracie to see if that's the same or what. Meanwhile anyone know of any online competition? I want to knock the last bit out quick and get the renewal app in.

So far I'm finding mail order, and classroom stuff. The OREA has some good links to education providers. Also found a full 56 hour renewal program that includes Fed laws, but not broken out seperately, so I'm assuming not offered stand alone. I believe it said you need to find a proctor to watch you take the final test. Sounds like the one I did 4 years ago.

I want quick, real soon, and on my schedule. In other words, online. So I can get it over, kinda like traffic school.

I get plenty of human interaction at the office, and all other hours have been classroom.

I'm sure there are some good on-line schools if you just don't want to get away from your computer. For me, I enjoy the interaction with other appraisers as much as the class. My favorite part of this business is when I'm out inspecting houses, and visiting with people. Now when it's 20 degrees outside and snowing, that's a different story!

I thing Bert Rodgers online courses are very good and worth a look.

You can also receive their course book and read and take the test at home and just mail in the test page with your money after you have looked over their books.

I found it to be a very good couse.

I will tell you that I also took the McKisscock 30 hour class this year because of a time prolem I had and it was also a very good class and you will learn a great deal.
