Advanced Residential Form and Narrative Report Writing- Course 500

Anyone taken this class? Do you end up writing the paper for the course long after the course is finished ? Or do most people write the paper during the 6 day class? Or can you use the paper as your demo report? What sort of paper is it, narrative? The course description is vague. Just put the course fee on my credit card, $500. ouch

Benjamin, I took the class more than a few years ago, so it is a little hard to remember. It was a very intensive class dealing with writing technique, grammar and punctuation, technical writing.

The classes ran 5 days for 8-hours each day. In addition, there was a writing assignment each day, to be completed that night before class the next day. The writing assignments were based on a single case study. An example would be, "Write and explanation of the condition of the improvements, with consideration to depreciation, needed repairs and quality of construction." Another assignment might be to explain the cost approach. Another, describe and explain the breadth and depth, analysis of, and conclusion of the sales comparison analysis. All writings were specific to the case study. I don't know if the instructor would be amenable to your gearing the writings toward an appraisal of your own to be used in the AI demonstration appraisal.

I personally found the writing assignments to be extremely intensive and difficult to keep up with. But, my wife says I'm snail-slow at everything. For me, it involved considerable time during the evening, but I was finished by the end of the course. Some were not, as I recall. Overall, I had a positive impression of the course.

Good question, Benjamin. I have the exact same one.

I will most likely take this in Sept. Did you take it since you've posted your question??

It says that Residential Case Study is a pre-req, but I've not taken it. What I have done a few years ago was take a week-long Demo prep seminar which was intense and provided the complete framework for my Demo.

For this course, I'm wondering how much I'll need to rely on the HP-12 C calculator?

Jim's comments on the writing assignments being intensive are helpful. Any other comments, ie - materials that are helpful to have, books, techno gadgets, etc,
