At least twice a week I accidentally hit "new order" in the middle of a report when I don't want to start a new order. This screws with my auto-numbering system. Usually, I hit "new" on the report line when I was supposed to hit "new" on the sketch line. Or, I will hit "control n" in a variety of different ways without trying to do so. It is only a minor PIA, but it is annoying even though it is user error. Is there a way to turn off certain "control keys? If not, do you guys ever do this? If so, how do you avoid it?

Choose a new file numbering scheme.

Keep them coming, I probably deserve it.

I figure out of about 30 responses I will get one piece of gold.

I am awful optimistic, huh?

Hey, have I just set a forum precedent by being the first person to ever quote themselves?

#3) How about leaving the new order open on your computer until you receive a new order. :P

You can turn off the New on the tool bar by clicking on the small down arrow at the end of the tool bar. That brings up the add or remove button option. just remove the New from the list.

Dont know of any way to stop the Ctrl N thing.

I ignore the auto numbering system, I can't keep it straight either. I have my own file numbering system that I have been using for years. With Wintotal's search capablilities I even re-filed all my paper files last year, to my own numbering system, instead of by address.

Now, when I file, it's real easy. And when I need a file, I use Wintotal search parameters, find the file number and it's right there in numerical order.

As for the Cntrl N thing, I didn't even know you could do that.

I don't care for their numbering system either so I use my own. What bugs me is hitting the control or alt key that erases the entire form....it's far too easy too do.
