I have been using a la mode's software for a very long time. Something it does still bothers me.

I have few repeat customers. I do not prepare appraisals for loan purposes. Just estates, foreclosure (REO's), disputes of some kind, and "how much is it worth? I want to sell". Also field reviews for a particular lender.

For that reason, I just start out preparing the report. If I go so far as to fill out an invoice, a lot of stuff there will subsequently and surrepticiously be deleted.

If I close down a la mode, and come back to the report later. some of the data has been surreptiously deleted by a la mode's program. My address and that of the client, at the top of page one of the old URAR, for example. Lots of times, I had already proof-read, printed the report and was about to put it in an envelope before I realized those deletions have been made.

Is there any way to avoid this, without creating a new client contact in the customer database?

Thanks,

Tom

For one thing, the software is designed to use the "Requestor" to get started. If you will force yourself to do the small learning curve, and fill out the requestor, it only has 7 steps and you can skip some of them if you need to, then you will probably see your problems disappear.

Also, make sure that you have your program set to "save" on a real short time frame, like every 5 minutes. That way, if you have a power failure ( and don't have battery backup) or if you just exit out of the job, you will have most of your data saved automatically.

I went to one of their "free if you have Platinum" software classes. Very helpful!! Nice new laptop computers too.

If you call tech support, they will walk you through everything, and tell you the links to the written instructions if you like to do it yourself.

Thank you, Rick. So simple, I'm embarrassed! I've been using TOTAL since it was a DOS program. The computer area of my mind still works that way. DOS was a great operating system. Quick, simple and direct.
