Yeah man, best to learn from first principles and dive right into the UAD specifications, which are provided for free. I also put together a pretty comprehensive worksheet that lists the matching AD fields and whatnot:

I bought a new computer (beast of a MacBook M5 Pro) and never got around to logging back in, and been busy working - wife said to spend less time trolling.

After spending an hour dropping photo after photo into my software and writing explanations for each one, I think that I am finally ready to try a mobile 3.6 data collector on a tablet. Will my old wifi only Android tablet work or do I need to prop serious coin on a cell tower connected iPad Pro (apparently amodel no later that 2022 since Apple killed the wide angle rear lens on the new ones).

Unless you really insist on a tablet form factor (I think they are too big), just get a refurbished iPhone Pro 15 or newer on Amazon. I did, only $400 - handles everything I throw at it and has a wonderful camera. No need for latest. You can also pick up a refurb iPad M1 Pro (don't get anything older than M1 chip) that has the wide angle, which I also have - great machine.

Once you pick that phone up, you try my app for this. It auto-labels the images using the on device vision model (not the cloud) which of course you can correct/override in a tap). No connection needed for it to work btw, which is great for rural, building interiors etc.

As you can see I fat finger testing (edit texting) pretty badly even on a Galaxy Ultra size phone. Unless the old iPhones can text to speech without internet, I would need a large tablet to work with. Thank you everyone for your input in these uncertain times.

Yeah, I've got on-device fast speech to text working (no internet connection needed). What's neat is if you dictate while inspecting, the clip of notes surrounding the image is used as additional context to the image classification. So if you say "this is the kitchen, it's C4" it will put the most weight on that over its own best guess from the image alone. And if you use it with LiDAR and tap and tag the rooms as you go, it's aware of where the photo was taken in the space and auto-associates it with the correct room as well.

I made an on site checklist you can download to use until you get the in the field workflow committed to memory. There is just no way I can do a full day of inspections in the field on mobile so as long as I don't miss anything I should be good.

I did use a stylus on my old Galaxy Note 2 but the one on my Samsung Galaxy Ultra is just as bad as my finger.
