Boy I could really use a company that would take some of my problem clients and handle them for me. Dont get me wrong I still want those clients business I just want to have a company that will handle all the problems I have with those clients for me. Kind of like a reverse AMC, but the AMC would be working for me. You know like actually getting paid for the appraisals I do, I want to get paid(or at least have them be posted for payment) as soon as this company gets it , have them send it on to my problem clients (and resend if need be) and worry about the accounts receivable end. And taking care of all the calls that keep me on the phone answering stupid quetions like "Why can't we have comps in less then a mile from the subject in the middle of BFE Kansas?" or those value questions. I am not perfect and I will listen to a value question if it is in the reasonable 5% range one way or the other, or I will listen if they have more information they supply that they would like to be considered. But I swear I am going to shot the next moron that says " Oh, come on, be a pal. I just need another 10k to make the deal work" In my opinion "deal" is a 4 letter word. I make appraisals not deals.

Anyway, does anyone know of any companies out there that will manage these painful aspects of this business for me. I would gladly pay and extra $25 a report and send my problem clients through a company like that. Just to get all the calls for problems, status, collections, etc. off my hands. I just want to get out on the road and appraise, that is why I got into this business.

Please let me know if you know of any companies that might do this and how I can get in touch with them. Also I am interested in knowing if any of you run into these problems and would agree with me in wanting and option like this.

Thanks

Headache man

John,
It is called being self employed. There are some collection agencies out there that can help withe dead beats but other than that you can go work for someone else (an AMC) that can do these functions but they are going to want alot more than $25 a report.

Hello. After being in business 10 years, I "fired" my most annoying/slow paying clients! Felt great! All the others- it is your business, you make the rules. If clients pay slow, ask them to collect at door, or collect when you deliver the appraisal. Or don't accept their work. I have asked clients to fax me requests/questions instead of calling. And/ or use a secretary, anwering service, or message service that screens calls and you return them at the end of day all at once. good luck!

Jo anne,
I agreee, it is for this very reason I have decided to set up a web site. It has an order form and a fee quote form, and an approval package. Now when I get a call while out in the field from somebody I do not know I will simply direct them to my web site. No more faxing orderforms back and forth or misunderstandings as to the fee.
