Howdy. I've been experiencing numerous file management/location problems with ACI for weeks. ACI tech support can't help, asking me to be patient while the ACI Development department tries to help. I just asked ChatGPT if i should run Windows 11 Repair Update. ChatGPT provided an excellent answer, and also indicated that ACI has been experiencing significant "Licensing Problems" recently becase ACI isn't recognizing something or the other. So....the Windows 11 Repair Update "might" help but it can't hurt. Seems like a good trade-off to me....

I'm sorry to hear that, I'm starting to suspect that Windows 11 may be your problem. If I'm not mistaken, it's been documented to have a difficult interaction with ACI, right up to the very beginning of when it was implemented.

Windows 11 updates have created temp issues, but do correct last issue they create. Just have everything backed up. Only a clean re install of ACI would say yes or no as to what from. Long ago total re install was a nightmare, but eventually they came back with a re install, no lose everything anymore. If ACI is the only problem, you kinda stuck in da mud.

Did you run windows sfc /scan now. It checks widow files for errors and corrects them.

I'm about 60% with a windows 11 repair/install that per ChatGPT might help. Been on the phone with ACI tech support at least 15 times, starting with failed sketch, then failed location, then failed locations [which MIGHT be because I changed the download folder location for my reports so now I have about 3 different folders all named the same in different locations in my file manager....and sometimes I swear the file structure changes so folders end up under other folders without me doing anything. Bad thing is that when I try to open an existing file, I must search each of the different folders til I find the folder where that report is located. Also now whenever I close a file it results in numerous error messages that won't go away unless I click either OK or the X button dozens of times, then whever I try to open ACI i get error messages that it's already open, and error messages about "Borland Database" or something, while requiring me to go into task manager to close several different ACI programs that are open. ChatGPT seems to be extremely familiar with the issue, although "we" devoted hours together to revised the file locationss--that is necessary per ChatGPT because ACI isn't recognizing its own file locations...but nobody has suggested an ACI re-install yet??? ChatGPT asked me to contact it again when the W11 repair install is completed, to walk me through which options to select afterwards. Sometimes it all seems too much

can a user who relies on Windows 11 easily go bck to Windows 10 without expecting problems, or were all Windows 10 users expected to move to Windows 11???

At one time i thought total was glitchy. Sometimes only a total removal of total with a new reinstall cleared the issue. Win 10 is still good for another year, they will tell you how.

Win 11 might have a roll back option to 10. But see what happens after you re install 11.

I keep getting "Borland Databse" error messages??????????????

W11 update almost done. Should I also run the sfc / scan? If so do I need to go to command prompt as admin or just type in the windows search bar? Is sc / scan the actual verbiage??? ???

usually just type that in search. or type run sfc /Scannow. Once it ends, try ACI. If you have a registry cleaner use that. If you know not what that is, you are in program hell. Sometimes, it's just 1 registry key that's wrong and the program won't run. I think the problem is ACI, but you have to be a brave person to wipe it clean and re install. That is why i have a backup computer. Never had the same problem on both. Gave me time to look for that needle in the haystack.

You also may be a rookie when it comes to windows tinkering. Download the free version of 'Advanced system care' and run it a couple times a week. It helps clean up your computer. Also, would recommend a free 'driver' update program. You might have an outdated diver, that can cause a problem. I would do all that before a clean install of ACI. If you decide to do a clean install, uninstall ACI, run advanced system clean, restart the computer , then re install ACI. And buy a cheap backup for emergency use.

Thanks very much. Are you required to pay for two ACI licenses? And if you delete ACI, the existing reports saved to the Desktop aren't lost, eh???
