My Adobe 5.05 ran good for several months under Windows XP and then developed problems.

It would not print pdf files anymore.

Removed and reinstalled many times but nothing worked. Finally had to put Version 4.05c back on my computer to get my work out.

It did and still does work OK on my Windows 98 partition (Dual boot system).

This evening, an email came from Adobe and it included a link to a document describing how to fix this problem. I downloaded the document and am going to reinstall Version 5.0 and see if it works.

Anyone else having this problem can go to the Adobe web site and search for document #11327272.

There are some other fixes on their site too.

If you want the document and cannot find it, send an email and I will email it to you.

I reinstalled Version 5.05 of Adobe Acrobat today and applied the fix. It works.

Until now, when trying to print an Adobe Distiller file, it would start and then a printer error would appear.

Got a new computer with XP, loaded Acrobat 5.0. Would not print with Distiller, but basic Acrobat prints PDF just fine. So rather than fight the issue, I just use basic Acrobat.

You might want to try that link in my first posting. It fixed the problem that I was having after going without Version 5.05 for a couple of months. In addition, they had a couple more articles about problems that I was not having. Maybe those would help.

Distiller creates much smaller files if you are sending them EDI.

I could not find this on their web site. Could you please post the document or give the exact web site?

Thanks

Cliff

The document number assigned by Adobe is "2bc3a.htm" (no quote marks though) and the link that I downloaded it from is as follows;

http://www.adobe.com/support/techdocs/2bc3a.htm

That is the document that solved my long standing problem and they had a couple of others that looked useful. Cannot remember if I downloaded them or not but you will find them once you are in that spot on their site.
