It's minutes before 5pm. I sign my report and attempt to generate an .xml & .pdf. And of course... total decides to break. It cannot generate the addendum or finish the .xml or .pdf step.

So, I close the program, restart as directed. Then it wants to do an update. So I agree.... My report is now late. I then re-open the report and attempt to do it again. Again, it's broken. So, I re-start my computer. Still broken. Then I turn OFF my computer, and manually turn it back on. STILL DOESNT WORK.

At this point, I've lost an hour of production time. I call tech support. They want me to PAY an additional $35 for assistance. In my view... I already pay $600 per year for a computer program that barely does what I want it to. I've just lost $75 in production time trying to sort out the program that worked just fine yesterday. Could it have broken because of their update? Hmmm.... I wonder. Now they want me to pay an additional $35 because their program isn't working after hours?!?!?!?!? ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING ME?!?!?!?!? I didn't do ANYTHING different to my computer.

I am SO LIVID!!!!!! They are holding me hostage to pay an additional $35 because it's after hours. And in my view... THEIR UPDATE BROKE MY PROGRAM!

I AM DONE WITH ALAMODE. FULL STOP! At this point they are endangering my ability to service my clients and make a living. And they want to bend me over and make me pay MORE?!?!? DISGUSTING.

Incidentally, hit me up with your favorite NON-CORELOGIC programs. The easiest to convert to from total. I am DONE being held hostage by these greedy bastards.

You are screwed $600 a year is now a bare bones for the Five Major Software Providers. Full 24/7 Tech Support $900.00 to $1.,200-- If you are busy and making money just pony up another $200 -$300 for 24/7 Tech Support . Do not switch that will not help you - I am with a competitor and the days of free tech are long gone. BUT like I said if you are busy big deal pony up and get the best tech plan. A long weekend or a big deal and you will eat that up real fast Sorry just the facts :)

While I feel your pain, I honestly think you are over-reacting. If the report is that important to get out on time, $35 is a trivial business expense, IMHO.
I mean, what will the problem be if the report is turned in tomorrow morning? If you are that stressed about turning in a report a few business hours late, might be time to take a deep breath. :)

All alamode users should be well aware of the tech support hours. Honestly, I would be pleased in your situation that support is available at all after hours, even if having to pay for it.

Sorry for your troubles. I'm on the latest update and just generated an XML & PDF with no problems. You said you were having problems before the update which caused you to restart so I'm thinking your file got corrupted. If I needed to get the file delivered without tech support assistance I would start a new report and "clone" the corrupted one. You lose minimal data that way and your new file should be deliverable. Hope that helps!

After 30 years, Total should work. I guess it is hard for CL to saddle the program with data mining technology without a hiccup. SNAFU...situation normal...

I had Wintotal for years, been with Clickforms about 5 years now. Much better. I've only had to call tech support a couple of times, usually when our MLS makes changes. It is so much better IMO. I use Inspects alot for photos and basic sketches on my IPad.

I have the latest update and not a glitch. I have delivered more than just one since the update. Maybe if you purchased Smart Source it would work better? LOL Just kidding, I can't stand them trying push that product on us.

THEIR UPDATE BROKE MY PROGRAM!
Doubtful but things do happen, and many things could be at fault, sounds like you were close to missing the due date on your own but it doesn't matter. Take a deep breath and realize that while it is rare things do go upside down after closing and on the weekends and if you don't have the capabilities to fix it yourself you should pony up and get the higher-tier support package. That said if you really want to make a switch to a new vendor now is a good time to relearn new software as things have slowed down but do you really want to spend the time and energy? I have no recommendations as I ran away from ACI 20+ years ago to Wintotal and it has been the only thing that I have used since. Has it been without trouble, no but I do think that they are the best program out there for residential work or the market would say otherwise. I would call support and get to the bottom of the problem, if it was a bad update then learn how to re-install the updates, Alamode has a console to check things out. If it was something on your end then learn to fix and manage your hardware, replace the hardware or have tech support near you.

Total is bloat-ware crap. Had to use it when I did side work for a firm from 2005 to 2010. Owner bragged about being a Platinum level customer and she was always on the phone with issues. Meanwhile, I've had SFREP (used to be WCA) since 1989. Haven't had an issue that required support in years. When I did , I just called them up and it got resolved right away at no charge. I don't know if support is still free since I haven't needed it.

Meanwhile, all the Total-stans will rise up to convince you it's your fault.

typically, if it's just a your problem, then it's probable a your computer problem. now that is really a problem. finding it is the needle in the haystack, even it you are computer literate. i have an older back up computer that never seems to have the same problem as the other one at the same time, for your kind of situation. good luck. typically takes many hours, or days, to figure it out yourself. $35 might not seem so excessive if they actually fix it fast.
