As a trainee, how many hours is typically logged in per appraisal, assuming I have done most of the work( measured property, site inspection, comp. search, put report together, etc.) and supervising appraiser reviewed my work and signed off on it. Most properties I appraised were typical 3 bedroom 2 bath, in subdivision, straight forward appraisals.
I live and work in Texas.
Thanks in advance for your valuable, constructive input.

As with everything appraising ... "It depends"

Like Flacco said, just log what you spend on a report from start to finish
Prep time, research, driving to/from inspection, time on scene measuring, walking through, time it takes to type

In the beginning of your training career, the hours will probably be higher than toward the end because the more you do, the better/more efficient you become

Thanks for input. You brought up a very good point. I know how many hours it took me to do the research, set up site inspection date with home owner or agent, measure the house, site inspection, photos, putting the report together send it to my supervisor, go back over the report with my supervisor (about 5-7 hours) BUT, I my main question is this : Drive-time to and from office to site and driving around to take pictures of comps can also be logged? Thanks

check with your state, as each has their own rules, but as far as I know, yes, drive time to/from subject as well as driving the comps counts

That's still part of the assignment and hours/time you spend ON that assignment

Back in 2003, my first appraisal took me around 15 hours, and 7-8 for the next several appraisals, then 5-6 hours for the most of typical 1004/1073s. Nowadays, it takes 8-10 hours for the most of 1004/1073 appraisals in the average.

quick search result Texas check the column headers re "research of comparables" (would include exterior inspect/pics depending on the Scope of Work for an assignment)
