Pamela,

I have often wondered the same and comments by others about some of the old dates. Hear is waht I was told.

All the info is only what is reported by EACH STATE. Some sates do a good job reporting and some don't.

Also, some suspensions are "stayed" if the appraiser takes a class (or several classes) within a certain time frame. If they have not completed the classes then the suspension would activate.

So, maybe an appraiser got a 1 month suspension in June of 2001, but is was to be "stayed" for one year IF a certain class was completed within the next 12 months. The 12 months come and go and the class is never taken, then the STATE might report the suspension as of LAST YEARS DATE when it was issued with the conditions attached.

I think it all comes down to how and when each state files reports with the ASC.

An Arkansas appraiser, who pays annual dues, got the shaft from Oklahoma where the license cycle is 3 years, but you still pay annually. When he decided he would no longer appraise in Oklahoma, he merely allowed the license to lapse by not paying the remaining annual fees. This earned him a spot on the registry for no other reason than not paying the dues for the balance of years left in the cycle. The revocation appeared in the registry and now a number of his clients can no longer use his services in Arkansas! He has never been sanctioned in AR or OK, only failing to pay dues.
