Was reading one of the other posts about an offer of $500 to speed up the appraisal process. The consensus from colleages was mixed between it being a bribe or not. ........OK lets not muck about, Ill go first, the best bribe I was ever offered was $15,000 to hit value on a commercial property back in the 1980s. Whats yours?

Wel only two come to mind.

1. was not money but rather services offered by the fair lady

2. was a guy who did not speak much english and just kept trying to shove money in my hand... hundred dollar bill.

I've had others there were at the time of the order,

I've been offered $100 by a MB to hit value.

And then an old lady from Greece would not let me leave the house without taking a very nice coffee mug with illustrated with gold and silver plating from Greece.

Ken, you should repost this as a poll question. It would be interesting to see the results. Maybe a Yes/No poll with a few bribe amount ranges for yes answers.

Years ago, in my mid 20's, I set an appointment for just before lunch... said his wife would be home. A hot mid 30 something met me at the door in a peeky-boo see through lovey-dovey cuddly nighty. :blink: She asked if there was ANYTHING she could do to make sure everything came out alright. m2: I measured, took my pics, and left... then told they guys back at the office about the appointment. Other than them wanting to set up another inspection, Dad said it'd be best we decline the assignment. :shrug:

$100 cash was the highest priced offer. I was offended. I can be bought, but I am not cheap!

(again, tongue in cheek folks)

Had a guy write a check for $150 more than the fee I had quoted the client. Didn't notice it till I was on the road to take comp photos. Then I figured I had better check to make sure the check was correct. I saw and almost went back but decided to not confront him about it.

It was a frankenhome that they thought was worth $200k and after having been there I saw what it was, it ended up much (very much) lower, with a refund snailmailed to the borrower and a copy of the check and letter sent to the lender and into the file. Funniest part was the borrower was a retired detention center cop or something like that (it's been a few years).

I once appraised the Dalai Lama's summer house in Sandusky Ohio. So, I'm finishing up my inspection and I say Hey Lama, how about a little something, you know, for the effort ,you known. And he says, oh, uh, there won't be any money, but when you die, on your deathbed, you will receive total consciousness. So I got that goin for me, which is nice.

OK John Winger.....:rof::rof::rof:

I had an old lady offer me some cookies......

The only real bribe I've been offered was $100. Declined of course (but I did take the cookies). :)

Not really a bribe.but

I was once offered, and I took some cake and coffee from a very nice Iranian couple who insisted that I have coffee and cake before going out in the cold to measure the outside. It was much appreciated.

And, there was the sweet young thing who came bounding out the front door in her very skimpy sun suit with a big smile that disappeared when she saw my wife in the car with me:rof:
