What's the best way to prepare for the California State Certification Exam?

I believe I have all the education requirements completed. I have a BA in Economics, Real Estate Classes from a community college in Basic Real Estate Appraisal, Advanced Real Estate Appraisal, RE Principles, RE Practice, Escrow Fundamentals, RE Computer Applications, RE Law., 7 hour USPAP.

However, I completed my degree and all classes except for USPAP prior to getting my AT license 3 years ago. So, I'm concerned I may be rusty on specifics which may be on the test.

I completed the 15 USPAP last year.

I live in Sacramento.

Thanks.

I took an Exam Prep class in Santa Ana (southern California) from ATS (Appraiser Training Service I think) that was WELL worth the $200. Now, the exam has changed since then, but I believe it may still be worth it. Plus, you can get a weekend away to Orange County and see all the wildflowers on your way.

Test Prep Class in ROSEVILLE, CA this weekend

You are in LUCK!!

Barry Cleverdon's License Preparation Class is this weekend in Roseville, CA. (For you out of staters, 15 minutes from Sacramento)

He states in his flyer:

Preparation for Office of Real Estate Appraiser test ! Not for licensing hours of education.

May 17 18 - 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM Both days recommended be for AT, AL or AR, AG.
Second day covers capitalization and income approach. Both days recommended

Information from new 2008 test is included but since tests are new and not published only limited information is available. Tests are more questions and more complex! Information included in course is updated to the new test where available information has become know. This class is designed to enhance scores on the licenses tests for appraisers.

His flyer detailing the course is attached to the message.

Just for your information...

I went to the local "Real Estate Appraiser's Association" (www.reaaca.org) meeting yesterday.

Bob Clark, the new OREA Director spoke for a few minutes on the results of the current years test passing rates. They are much lower than last year. For the first four months of 2008 they were:

TRAINEE and LICENSED level test (same test qualifies for both levels) - passing rate overall, those who passed either the first time or with a retest, 14%.

CERTIFIED RESIDENTIAL level test - passing rate of 26%.

CERTIFIED GENERAL level test - passing rate of 53%.
