Did anyone else receive their copy of 'Connections' from Landsafe? I read the article titled 'The Future of AVMs? Consumers!' and wanted to choke.

'The appraisal industry can use AVMs as productivity and efficiency-enhancing tools, or, as a value-added services offered to consumers.' ...'It's in our best interest to leverage AVMs in ways that enhance the appraisal industry.' Sorry Charlie! We now have and always have had our own data. Very few appraisers would have use for your AVM data. (national desk reviewers maybe?). How do you suppose we appraisers could use this value added service? Think we should post a link to an AVM on our websites? Then our customers could do their own 'appraisal'. Sure, the AVM is an appraisers friend. Like a cobra makes a good housepet.

I now believe beyond a doubt these folks are at it just as WAMU, and the rest of the AIReady bunch. No longer do I sit posed on the fence wondering. I will join my conspiracy theory friends with pride. Possibly on the way to the soup line, but not to help put myself and other appraisers in my area out of business in the longrun.

Say 'no' to Lighthouse.

Signed, the potentially poor, but proud PDFing Holdout.

Caterina - I don't appraise for Landsafe, but have finally had it with Lighthouse. I had reactivated it for one client but have decided it is not worth it. The other two appraisers who work for me hated the client and hated Lighthouse and I concur. The client was bad enough, but Lighthouse made it worse. I will not (I sincerely hope) ever use it again. Only if it is the absolutely last thing in the universe and my normal clients insist on it.

Ditto for me. I quit appraising for Landsafe (Countrywide) about a year ago and uninstalled Lighthouse from my computer. Life's too short to have to deal with those kind of clients.

I resisted and avoided Lighthouse along with Wells Fargo and their AMC called Value IT years ago. It's all hype and propaganda by the techo-geeks of the world. Let them inflict their own brain damage with this crapola. STILL IN BUSINESS AT FULL FEE.

Received a request from ValueIT. Told them my fee, they agreed to it. Told them I could transmit report in PDF or snail mail, their choice. No Lighthouse! They picked snail mail.

Yeah, I do the same thing for Value IT. Don't and won't use Lighthouse! But all of the request I get, ax for the report to be over nighted. So I ad extra $25 to my quotes.

We managed to part ways from what was once a really great client: LSI. They insisted on lighthorse, house, or as I refer to it: crapola. After more than one attempt at this very poor system, countless hours trying to do what pdf did in 1-2 minutes...I'm out of there. We pitched it. Not to say the fees for signature, fees for each lenders, fees for "fill in the blank." Thanks but we are win2000 and pdf. It's the only way to fly. Paulette in Tx

Mell & Rick,

Ok, so what's the trick to getting on the 'good list' with Value IT without doing Lighthouse? I submitted all my necessities months ago but told them I still only did PDF or hard copy. I was pondering the Lighthouse deal and would let them know if I chose to go that way. I was called a month or so ago and told I would be kept in 'pending' until I caved and went 'fully EDI compliant'. A Realtor friend calls a couple weeks later with a sale she wants me to appraise. WF is the client. 'No problem', I say, have done a couple for them. The LO checks and has to assign to another because of the Lighthouse crap. This was going to be a hard copy delivery anyway. I have no problem overnighting them to their processing center.

Caterina,
Good question, got me. Iv'e been on their list for a long time. They call me a vendor-contractor. IE: don't have lighthouse, but they will call when they need something in my area. I guess they don't have a staff or approved appraiser any where near me. I am out in the sticks, so there aren't many choices.

Mell.
