Cabbages. Kings, Faxes, PDF, and Sealing Wax

Two true stories (sad). I'm requested by some
dumb underwriter for information--already in the report,
which I fax, and send the original via US mail.
Then I get the call, "We haven't received the
original!!--We Can't CLOSE!! So were going to fax
you the fax you sent us. Can you scan it and send it PDF?"

I, like a dope ask, "Huh, why is that acceptable?"

Story two. Request for appraisal call, "I'm going to
fax you the request. The key is located above the
front door." I ask, like an idiot, "Can you put on the
request where the key is, so I won't confuse it with
the other 20 requests I have." I am told by the
processor, "No, I can't do that, faxes aren't secure."

So what is it? Why is a digital signature on a PDF
ok, when realtors get by with faxed signatures
every day of the week?

They do get more bizzare as time goes on. Yesterday U/W asks me to include a statement that the borrower actually owns the property! :turn-l:
What? Says I... I included the deed and sales history... I am an APPRAISER.. perhaps you need an ATTORNEY.. btw this report has been re-addressed to new lenders 3x ... W
