I was sitting on southbound Hwy57 the other day and one of these lit up the car that was behind me. It was a maroon color and you would never see it until they activated their lights.

So slow down and use your turn signals when you make a lane change.

Are unmarked cars something new out there?

There are a LOT, a WHOLE LOT, of unmarked cars in this state. Every make, model, color. You absolutely cannot spot them unless they have their lights on. Camaros, Mustangs, pickup trucks, Jeep Grand Cherokee, you name it. You'll often see a very plain Ford 150 sitting along the road...sure enough, cop.

I was getting gas at a station next to the freeway when this really nice Mustang GT with blackout windows pulled up at the next pump. Out stepped a State cop in uniform. I looked at it and laughed and said 'you sneaky bstrd'. He just laughed and 'we're getting sneakier every day.' My golf buddy is a cop and drives a very ordinary looking gray Tahoe with small lights in the grill and on the back window.

I am aware of how common in other states, but this is new in this state

Safe bet that the CA ACLU, with newsom's blessing, will put a stop to this racist policy.

That's stealthy? You can see the badge on the door.
State Troopers here drive Ford SUV's with no markings. Only give-away is the govt plate.

it is tough to be a concrete pirate...

We saw one coming back from Las Vegas on Sunday, but it was tan with no lights on top - you could barely make out the lettering on the side. Coming back on I-5 - plenty of autos going over 80 mph after passing Bakersfield.

We took our pet dog to Vegas (we hadn't been there for years) -- I don't recommend it. My wife and I had reserved for Bacchanal Buffet at Caesar's Palace for Friday at 3:45PM (only table left) -- I had dropped her off around 1:00 pm to gamble - and I went back to the hotel near the south of the airport to work - and I had the dog. Around 3:00pm I left to meet her at the buffet, traffic was unbelievable (well sure, it was Friday), - 3 x off-on for traffic lights to make a single turn, I just about arrived there and then a call from the hotel that I had to return because my dog was barking. To make it short, I had to pass on the buffet. That was OK with me, it was $100 each. At least my wife got to try it.

I don't recommend taking a dog to Las Vegas. And, I didn't see any myself - although my wife did get a glimpse of a couple.

In fact, it is so hectic and noisy, the downtown hotels, even the "OK" ones so expensive, the parking expensive at $20 a pop, that I doubt I will ever go back. - It was a lot nicer in the 80's, 90's, 2000's - but now, it is just not any fun. Maybe I am just getting too old.
