Accordng to the 7/5/2008 update (DBPR database) the FL appraisal licensee numbers are as follows:
RD=5786
RI=6727 (2956 Inactive = 44%)
RH=68
RZ=2218
Trends are as follows:
Incoming RDs for 2007 = 870, 2008 = 116 (6 months).
Incoming RIs for 2007 = 1435, 2008 = 208 (6 months).
Incoming RDs for 2007 averaged 73 per month; the monthly number peaked in Oct. through Dec. (92, 75, 99). Although the numbers fell significantly starting 1/2008 it is rising again. First 6 months of '08 are 8,1,13,29,25,40. My guess is that number will continue to increase through 12/31/08.
Data indicates RIs generally enter field as Inactive; for those entering after 1/1/2008 the Inactive rate is 68%. That figure is 60% for RIs who entered after 1/1/2007. The Inactive rate for all RIs is 44%.
For appraisers who see a possible shortage of RDs, don't forget there is still a huge pool of Inactive RIs to fill the void created by any shortage. I don't have hard data but it seems to me the Inactive rate for RIs (overall) has fallen. So...who knows what that is about - getting active and earning experience credit at whatever cost (to get in under the wire) is one possibility. Another possibility is that Certifieds are simply using more RIs.
I process the database with Excel. If anyone sees any data they disagree with holler at me.
