From a new study....

"Compared with those living 300m away from a major road the risk was:

7% higher within 50m
4% higher between 50-100m
2% higher between 101-200m

The analysis suggests 7-11% of dementia cases within 50m of a major road could be caused by traffic."

Another power line or radon scare?

I can hear it now when I work on the next road widening project.

Very interesting. I've always wondered about this. My dear grandma lived near a freeway, and she was nuts.
Maybe we'll need to make a "dementia adjustment" in our reports...

Or could it be facilities housing dementia residents/patients are located close to major roads......

The stats are likely skewed by the crazy homeless folks picked up in the middle of the highway.

So people living in the desert miles from civilization as hermits are totally sane, right?

They are living in a high traffic area for UFOs and microwave rays.

The researcher has dementia ** First old folks love busy roads because there is nothing to do and they gather and sit on the porch and watch the cars go by. The old folks that live out in the sticks are often lonely , depressed and want to get into town. Anyways it's a BS analysis but like everything today anyone can do a sample on a few hundred people and come up with some conclusion. The other factor is population ** I would expect a State like Florida to have the highest rate because of it's large senior population :)
