OK - I'll go first....we are already feeling the effects of the higher interest rates and the screeching halt (so far) of refi's. I actually have time to read the forum and am going to balance my bank account this afternoon (a Friday no less)!

Of course, I always complain when we are swamped and then complain when it slows down....what say the rest of you? Have you noticed a slow down this past week? Last month was one of our busiest - that is why it is so noticeable.

Judy, I've noticed. Still seem busy. But I think it is because the ones I do have are hard ones.

It has slowed down. But I needed the break. Getting caught up on book keeping, past dues, and cleaning the piles in the office. I thought it was due to both, the slight upward jog in rates, and the end of the month. Don't know if it really has anything to do with it, but this is also the end of the first month in the new fiscal year.

Almost caught up with the back up, am now only 1 week out, and nothing is late. But like William, the simple, basic residential request have slowed. Now I'm getting more request for tough residential, and small commercial jobs. That okay, they pay better anyway.

Yes, Judy, the observations are similar. June was busiest in 5 years, and strongest 4-month run of business from April through July in that same time period. July did not surpass June, all manila legal folders are cleared off the rear left corner of the desk ! If someone wants fast turn-time today....they can get it. Today I finish sanding and staining a bench and overhead trellis structure on my rear patio....un-touched since several weekends in late May. The chores list has more than just that, so you see, the work really never stops.

Yes, fewer orders this week; only booked out two weeks now.

Much slower here as well, but I am not complaining as yet....I can use the break to try to remember there is a life outside of appraising!

My daughter is going off to college (freshman) in two weeks, so I am going to spend my free time bugging (and hugging) her. She is my last bambino and I am not sure how I am going to react to the empty house (of course my husband is still around).

Perhaps you all will be like that ad on TV - waving and crying at the door, then a dash to the extra room in the house and measure for a hot tub!!!

Glad to hear that others are going through the same thing. I had almost forgotten what it was like for the days not to be a blur. It gives me time to catch up on all the office management stuff and spend more quality time training my trainee!!!

Sounds like the slow down has begun. Hopefully enough to get me through and not starve. Oh well worse comes to worse I will figure something out. Feast or Famine business. Those crying about the amount of work that they had may just wish they had it.

I thought my fax machine was broken. I'm backed up enough with two weeks of report writing though.

Looks like the Tablet PC purchase is going on the back burner for a while.

Sounds like everyone is glad to get a break.

Business peaked in May and June, off 17% for July...thank God. I am actually catching up for the first time in months. Good thing too....got a class starting next week!
