I'm new to this forum, having recently opened an independent consulting practice for risk managers and others in the commercial insurance space.

It struck me as odd that when I search for "BVS", my search came up empty. I've done more searching on forums here and found several comments from former Boeckh users who missed the product.

After the merger of Marshall & Swift and Boeckh, the Marshall & Swift unit focussed on the assessor and appraiser market, and the MSB team focused on the insurance market. The insurance carriers use MSB products: RCT for residential, and BVS for Commercial/Agricultural. I believe the BVS program has Boeckh at its core.
After reviewing these forums it looks like many appraisers are trying to use the M&S products for insurance purposes and experiencing a disconnect.

Access to both BVS and RCT should be available on-line: you can purchase a small block of transactions. Your sales contacts in LA should be able to handle this. I'm not trying to pitch their product, just trying to help the appraisers use the same tools as we use in insurance.

BTW: Carriers generally use "reconstruction" basis for both RCT and BVS rather than "new construction". This is one of the big differences between M&S product line and MSB.
