I know this is a tech question, details are in "Technical" area. I need help ASAP on a "Printheads Obstructed" error problem. I posted here because I realize some of you may have experienced this problem, but you don't regularly venture over to the Tech area- I know I don't. Thanks. :x

I had the same problem. The error message kept referring to printheads. I called Hewlett Packard and they sent me some new printheads--no charge--so it makes me wonder if this is a common problem.

The gal from Hewlett Packard suggested I replace my ink cartridges, not the printheads. Apparently the printer was giving the wrong error message.

So I would suggest pulling out one ink cartridge at a time and reinserting them. If any are low, replace them.

Also, if you have a problem with the printer not picking up the paper, pull the paper all the way out, then reinsert the paper and make sure the paper holder is snug against the paper. This somehow "clears" the printer brain...Do printers have brains?

I got that tip from someone on this forum.

Hope this helps.

Yep, you gotta look at the HP 2000C as you would a Mercedes, 1 problem leads to many and the cure is to find the real culprit. I don't even mess around anymore, just call them and in a matter of 30 miin. or less they'll solve your problem. Case Closed!!

It would only be a very rare occassion that you'll need to change printheads; probably have to change your own head first. :D

Had the same problem, printheads. Now the wheels are not picking up the paper. Tried cleaning the wheels and re-setting, no luck. I think that I am due for a new machine. I am thinking of going back to a laser printer since they are so cheap now. Any recommendations?

RPayne,
Look at the cost of the toner cartridges when choosing. Some are pricey, even though the printer is cheap.

I had the same exact problem with the printheads. It was the yellow one. You need to clean the contacts a few times with a q-tip. They say you can't get oil from your fingertips on them. I called Hewlett-Packard. But they charged me $25 a call for service help that was useless. I just keep installing the same new printhead and turning the machine on & off till it worked. It is a quality machine that works great. I have had  mine over 2 years now. Good Luck!!

I had a similar problem a few months back. I tried to replace a single print head (the black one) and the machine locked up with an error code. Turns out H-P changed print head designs not long ago and the older style is not compatible with the new style. All of them have to be the same. After I called, H-P sent me the entire set, which solved the problem.

I also had a similar problem. I was swamped and couldn't wait for tech support so I replaced the yellow one which looked a little dirty on the bottom. Things went back to normal

Thanks Mell, I have been trying to factor that in. By the time you add up the costs of the toner/fuser etc (or the printheads and ink cartridges) it really adds up. I am not really sure what is the best overall cost.
