Ending debate was not the nature of that vote. A cloture vote is a vote to move forward. It merely sets a time limit on debate.

Time for lunch to make all the Back door deals with the different congressman for support, and their appropriate lobbying groups.:new_multi::new_all_coholic:

Listening to Dodd bloviate just makes me want to puke. I want a 4.25% fixed rate mortgage with zero points like Dodd received from Countrywide.....of course he did not know that he was receiving special treatment and he is certainly not going do the bidding of Countrywide and Bank of America, (it is just a coincidence that the lobbyists from BOA apparently actually wrote large parts of actual foreclosure bailout bill). No, Senator Dodd is too busy proecting the interests of the American people.

From the Wall Street Journal editorial on June 19, 2008 titled: "Angelo's Angel"

http://www.wsj.com/article/SB121383295591086669.html?mod=fpa_mostpop

"Give Senator Christopher Dodd credit for nerve. On Tuesday, the very day he finally admitted knowing that Countrywide Financial regarded him as a "special" customer, the Connecticut Democrat also announced that he was bringing to the Senate floor a housing bailout sure to help lenders like Countrywide."

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Yesterday, nine Senate Republicans led by South Carolina's Jim DeMint sent a letter asking Majority Leader Harry Reid to delay consideration of Mr. Dodd's housing bailout bill in light of its benefits for Countrywide – and Countrywide's benefits for Mr. Dodd. That's an excellent idea, in addition to a Congressional and Justice Department probe of Countrywide, Fannie Mae and the favors they seem to have spread around Washington. American taxpayers need to understand more about who they're being asked to bail out here, and why."

Since Dodd's party controls Congress, there is no reason for him to care or worry...the ethics committees have already stated that they are too busy to investigate Mozillogate. Hmmm, if Dodd were a Republican, I am sure that they would find the time to investigate.

And it would be front page news in every paper in the country instead of a one inch blurb on page 10.

Timothy,

That is a good point, I forgot about the syncophants in the media who will do anything to cover up for anyone who is a Socialist, oops, I mean Democract....not that the Republicans in Washington are any better in most cases since virtually everyone in Congress, with very few exceptions, in essence belong to the same party, which I kindly call the Kleptocrats.
