Hello,
I am thrilled about the new state forum. As much as I have looked, there is little local info. I am a CG in Knoxville w 16 years experience. I look forward to discussions with all in Tennessee.

Brett,
I'm a commercial banker in Sevier Co., how long do these cycles normally last (slow real estate market) to where appraisers will once again have business to support a trainee. I know things are tough right now, but I've offered to work part time, for free, and nothing seems to get anyone's attention. Just wanted to hear your thoughts?

Hey Brett.
I agree, its pretty cool to have more local forum.
So, are you working out of Straw Plains?
I lived there for a while when i was first married and a newbie to this country.
Talk about an eye opener!
I work out of Lutrell now, not too far away.
Actually, there is another appraiser who sometimes frequents this forum that i believe just bought a house in Straw Plains.
Do you work by yourself ?

Hi guys! My hubby & I are really considering moving there because we have alot of family there in the Nashville area.

With the way our market is in Ohio, now seems to be a good time to start over anywhere else but Ohio, lol :) (maybe, lol)

Anyway, I just wanted to say hello!

I wouldn't let your secret out.

... if I were you; about a half dozen of us Michigan appraisers would move down to Telico Village if we thought we could make a living down there... :)

You live in a beautiful area w/some good bass fishing, natural amenties, and REASONABLE taxes... not to mention some good BBQ restaurants!

Hello all!
To the previous post, I work and live in Strawberry Plains and know I where Luttrell is (pretty countrysides) also spend a great deal of time in Knoxville. Also, I work alone, but have 2 trainees and occasional contractor. As of now work is steady, but, considerably lower than last year and we were dead in October and November. How about everyone else?

brett, I'm down by a third over a normal year, if not more. Historically it's been fairly consistant, give or take a few thousand, so it hurts to be down 1/3 when one is used to a <5% fluctuation. Come Jan., I will have been doing this 15 years.

Yea right... you guys are just trying to discourage us Northerners from invading your market... relative to MICHIGAN, you guys are going gang busters...

Lower taxes, lower heating bills, good fishin, pretty women... hmmmm... what did Sherman do to the South?

:)

Bangledesh is doing great compared to Michigan from what I gather. How did you all trash your state? Union thugs? Liberal Democrats? :new_smile-l: Those would be the usual suspects to a ruined economy.

Michigan is so bad they can't even field a football team anymore.:icon_mrgreen:
