Has anyone seen this error and knows how to fix it? It pops up with 3 different file names, all dll's, when starting ACI 8 and 6 more when closing it. At least the first couple files it seeks are on the system. :? The photo button to get pics doesn't work, similar error, and the label fonts in the form are too big and overlap the data fields a bit. Otherwise it's perfectly OK. :?

It seems to have started when I uninstalled ACI 7.
Uninstalled a couple other unrelated things too. I could use the space.
I clicked "no" to the screens that say this shared file is apparently no longer needed do you want to delete. Maybe I said yes to the wrong one. On the basis of just in case, I'd rather keep it, but still seems I'm AFU. :(

Any ideas other than re-install? I would have to retrieve the CD, and of course admit my "sin". I tried Polaroid tech support, they are closed for "moving" today and will be back Tuesday.

Ah well, I shall probably confess.

Lee:

'Fraid you are past AFU way into TARFU, or maybe even FUBAR! Nah Not FUBAR, cause I recognise it

I get those sorts of errors regularly and it generally invoves completely resetting and reinstalling 'la machine' which requires: Tech support to unlock the @#$#%$#!! thing   .

May as well plan on kicking back this week-end, you probly ain't going to be workin (much)!

SOMETIMES when you get that series of errors (not sure about exact code, but that 'multiple error series') it means only that Track is messed up: so you might be able to do SOME stuff, but if the link to the pics is fried, and I'd bet you are dead in the water.

MAKE SURE you revisit in REPORT any or all of your files that you have entered after you noticed this error... as track may or may not have updated

Rotts of Ruck!

You shouldn't have to admit anything to anybody. If you can find your disk you should be able to reinstall over your existing ver. 8 and not have to call to reunlock.

What version of Windows are you running. We had a similar problem (not exactly the same but close) and I learned that Win2000, XP have in addition to the normal temp file directory have a hidden temp file directory which needed to be cleaned out manually.

OK Don't listen to me, Ted knows more

But I thought it took him a while every time I blow up MY machine like this...

I'll need to admit to my area mgr to get the disk, no biggie really. But will be nice if I don't have to go thru that unlock deal. The length of the unlock code seems very secure.

Yeah Lee Ann, I can do my reports, just the database thing does not work. I can do pics by right clicking each photo spot on those pages, and inserting a pic. So I can work, but just gotta click thru a bunch of errors and dance around a bit. :)

KS, I have an XP machine, buit the one in ? running ACI is Win98. Guess I must resign myself to reinstall. Not fun, but not so bad. Hey it's Windows, nothing I haven't done before. :P

Thanks for the ideas. Have a good labor day, try not to labor too much. Me, I will be out riding in my Sunday best (leather) suit.
Revvin' and Grinnin'. 8)

I think you'll be happier after you move ACI over to XP. We've got a mix of 98 and 2000 machines and ACI ver. 8 is muuuccchhh better under Win2k.

Well, reinstalling ACI 8 was easy enough, and no call to tech for an unlock needed. If you have version 7 on your computer, don't uninstall it! :!: :) Version 8 and version 7 share a bunch of files, you'll end up with a PITA. :)

The BDE error can be caused by certain security software as trojans and the like use BDE folders to hide their wares. Once cleaned, you get these errors. I had to do a complete reinstall. No biggie really. But it does stink when it first happens.

I can tell you how it works in Windows XP:
Go to Start
All Programs
Accessories
Window Explorer
My Computer
C Drive (assuming that is where it is)
Program Files
ACI32
Applications
Now on the right side in the program names, about 10 lines down (at least in my computer) is ACiBDERegCheck
You will see 3 boxes: Local Share - check; Registry Settings - check; All - check. Hit check on all three. Some will respond, others may not.
Once the screen changes, see the word "set". Hit that button, log out, restart and all should be good.
