NEW YORK, Feb 26 (Reuters) - Fannie Mae (FNM.N: Quote, Profile, Research), the biggest provider of funding for U.S. residential mortgages, on Tuesday said it hired Douglas Duncan as its chief economist.

The government-chartered company said it hired Duncan from the Mortgage Bankers Association, the industry's main lobbying group. Duncan had been with the MBA since 1992 and its chief economist since 2000.

How about the economist from NAR? He seems to think everything is okay, the bottom has been reached and it is sunshine and roses.

Yun is more optimistic than Lereah...is that possible? Duncan would have to be Judge Dread by comparison.

Dee Dee,

I think that is great news. I know Doug and will tell you that he is among the best out there (I think the very best- but that's just my opinion). He has always been realistic. I wish him the best.

Brad,
For everyone's sake, including my unborn grandchildren and great-grandchildren, I hope you're right.
