I did the online application for FHA back in May and waited about four weeks only to be told that the application they received had only the first page attached to it. For some reason I am unable to put the three required pages into one file. I called the FHA Consumer phone number and was told by her that I could send my application via fax, I am, however still trying to send it to them online. Does anyone out there know a way to put all three of these pages into one file. My scanner will not allow me to do it.

If you have an internet fax #, you could fax it to yourself and save it as a pdf.

Your scanner may have a fax function as well. Open the printer/scan application on your computer and click on fax. It should ask you if it's only one page or multiple pages. Select multiple pages, then go through the motions as if you're faxing it. But before the last step, press "preview fax." It should open the file as a TIF file. You could print that to pdf.

My application was approved in 40 days. I also submitted it during the beginning of May.

I did the online application about 4 weeks ago. I had the same issue when I applied. I hit the back button and sent the application 2 more times with another page attached each time. I wasn't sure if this worked and was thinking of faxing or mailing it this week. However, I just recieved an email that my application has been approved. Hopefully, this will be helpful in getting more business.

With about 100,000 appraisers on the FHA list, you may have to wait awhile. Unless you are willing to do 24 hour turn times, for half the fee you normally charge, and never report any repairs even though you are required to, and always hit the number the lender wants.

Good luck with that!

You may be right about that for the most part. But it wasn't too long ago that I got a random call from someone who saw my name as a member of the Appraisal Institute and said he needed an FHA approved appraiser. There have been other cases where this has meant a loss of business for me. There are many who are getting out of the business. Those of us who don't intend to get out need to work on education & credentials, and diversify sources of income. I'm thinking there will be a lot fewer appraisers around in 2-3 years.
