Yes, I have an individual policy through BC/BS of TN. My wife has her own policy through her work. It is cheaper for me to have my own policy and use the tax advantage.

I would have been financially wiped out if I did not have health insurance back in 2001. I would be gone and my family stuck with the bills.

I’m currently paying $1,300 a month to Tufts, a HMO and is a 100% plan. In 1988 when I first paid for my own health insurance it was $560 a month, 100% plan. I believe in asset protection.

We have it through where my wife works. It still cost us $850 a month for full coverage, preventive health, dental, vision, co-pay on meds. Large deductable. Her part is $250 and the spouse part is $600 per month. Then we also have a medical savings plan as well.

That's why is is cheaper for me to have my own policy with BC/BS.

I married a school teacher so I'm covered 100% for everything except vision and dental. I have 20/20 vision and use a Braun Oral B toothbrush and floss so things are looking pretty good here.

A word of advice to the young single appraisers...........marry a teacher or other government worker. They have the taxpayer funded cadillac health plans.

Since I’m self employed and my wife doesn’t work outside the home, we have to pay for our own health insurance. We have policy through Assurant Health with a $5,000 deductible – costs $325 per month for my wife, two children and me. My wife and I are in our mid 50’s. It does not cover dental or vision.

Do tell!

I have insurance through myself as my employer does not provide. It's pretty cheap for me at $150/month with a 500 deductible at BC/BS. I never use it and feel like I am putting cash in the toilet sometimes, but it is nice to have. Hopefully, I will never need to get my moneys worth anytime soon!!!

Kaiser, next best thing to not having any insurance at all....
