Below is an excellent well researched six page news article regarding FNMA, HUD, Sub prime mortgages and Cuomo's contribution to the meltdown. This article has given me much better understanding as to why he has been taking such drastic actions against the GSE's and the industry as a whole. I am sure that his actions are partially to separate himself from any accusation and/or liability but it is also partially due to his "conscience" . . . "con" means - with . . . and "science" means - knowledge . . . Cuomo has knowingly sinned (lied, stolen, coveted . . . ) against the Public to further his goals, agenda and those of special interest groups and now he is trying to make right his wrongs . . . only, his current actions (good deeds) will never be able to make right the destruction that has been caused by his actions . . . sin has consequences that must be paid for (punished) one way or another and they always impact others . . . Isa 53.5

Well he missed the fact that Jack Kemp was Sec of HUD in 1992 when the changes he talks about took place, and it was Kemp who increased loan amounts. Kemp left in 1993 and though many in the industry believe he destroyed HUD, his name is not mentioned once in 6 pages.

Well of course it was all caused by Cuomo. Greenspan, Congress, CDOs, CW,
FNMA, FreddieMac, Subprime MBs, First Franklin, Wamu, ML, UBS, et al, just
blindly handed him their money.
