... does it usually take for your license expiration date to be updated once you pay your renewal fee on-line? I renewed my license nearly a month ago and it still shows my license as expiring 7/31/2008... is this going to create problem for me in regards to the FHA roster?

Yes...you need to fax your new license to them (FHA/HUD) once you get it. They will not look at the state website, all they will see is your expiration date...no new license, inactive.

I'm not sure it's really that easy Brian.

I received an email a couple weeks back from HUD that stated the following...

To update your license information, you will need an FHA Connection user ID.
If you don't already have a user ID, you can apply for one as follows:
- Go to the FHA Connection at https://entp.HUD.gov/clas/
- Click on "Registering a New User"
- Click on the "Appraiser Registration" link
- Fill out the Appraiser Registration page and click "Send"

To update personal or license renewal information once you have an FHAC User ID:
- Go to the FHA Connection at https://entp.HUD.gov/clas/
- Click on "Signon"
- Enter your FHAC User ID and password
- Select "Appraiser Roster" from the ID Maintenance screen
- Current information on file is displayed
- Change contact and renewal information as needed and select "Send"
- If you see the message "EXPIRATION DATE CANNOT EXCEED ASC EXPIRATION
DATE",
check www.ASC.gov to be sure that ASC has been updated with the new
expiration
date. Once ASC is updated with your new expiration information, you can
update
your data on FHA’s Appraiser Roster.

The problem I am seeing is that you need to make sure the ASC has updated your license expiration date BEFORE you can change the FHA roster information. My license has been updated with the State (shows on State website as 2010 expiration), but NOT the ASC... so how long does it take for the State to update the ASC with new information??? There are only 9 days left in the month?

Anyone else out there run into this situation?

My expiration date was changed within 24 hours after I paid my renewal fee online. I just did this last week.

Changed where? At the State level (michigan.gov/appraisers) or ASC (ASC.gov)

David, I don't think you understand the problem. In order to update your FHA roster status, you need to have your license expiration date updated with the ASC... not the State. Check the ASC website and click on the National Registry in the upper left hand corner. You can run a query on your name where you will find that your information HAS NOT BEEN UPDATED.

# Name Lic. State Lic. Number City, State Cert Type Status Expiration Date AQB Compliant
1 Durham, David MI 1201069265 New Haven, MI Certified Residential Active 7/31/2008 YES

Jason, Your right, I guess I misunderstood. It was changed on the MI site within 24 hours, not the ASC site (which doesn't appear to have been updated yet).

ASC National Registry has been updated

For those of you waiting to have your license expiration updated in the National Registry (ASC.gov), it looks like TODAY was the magical day. From the sounds of it... the State sent out the list of updated licensees to the ASC on Friday 7/18. Good thing, as we now have 8 days left to update the FHA roster!!
