I have a appraisal being investigated by the Minnesota Dept of Commerce. It's been well over a year since my records for the appraisal were sent to them. I have not heard anything from them. How long do they have to act on an issue with a residential appraisal? And do they let you know when the investigation is complete?

I can't speak for what happens in your State, but, case for a friend of mine took close to three (3) years until they made a decision.
If you can't wait, losing sleep, call them, and find out what's happening.
You're dealing with a bureaucracy, things that can be done minutes more often will take months, and nothing, except maybe a call from (very) high-up is going to change their pace.

Ask them. I don't have a clue from 1/2 way across the country. A frivolous complaint to the appraisal board here cost me over 9 months of restless sleep. An open and shut case, that aged me for no reason other than they had "better" things to do.

Mr. Rex has the right attitude. Were professionals, we should have a communication "portal" with "OUR" industry Gate Keepers. They are no better
than we are, they just know the right people, were born in the right family or can't appraise, LOL.
A friend of mine spent 2 years wondering what was happening to his problem. He went before the board chair and in 5 min,. walked out a "Free Man"
again. Why did it take 2 years???? It was a pretty simple deal. We really are always on the defense about anything we do, sad that we have to work under those constraints.
