Carlin was born in the Manhattan borough of New York City.[5][6] He was the younger son of The Sun's advertising manager Patrick John Carlin (1888–1945), an immigrant from County Donegal in Ireland, and secretary Mary Carlin (née Bearey; 1896–1984), who was also an American of Irish ancestry.
We all listened to Class Clown and Occupation Foole in grade school in the early 70's. I, like George attended urban Catholic schools in gritty neighborhoods. He had that whole scene down perfectly. We also listened to Cheech and Chong comedy albums which were big during the same time. I can still recite whole skits from "Cheech and Chong" and "Big Bambu".
