ACI users:

As a Beta tester for ACI I can pass the following information on to you.

This is straight from an email I got from the ACI Quality Axxurance Manager regarding some of the issues that have been touched on on the forum recently.

"There is no size limitation for our files other than when sending to some clients.

Zoo files are slower. Our programmers are looking into ways to speed them up. Zoo files are compound documents (Microsoft). ACI files are Rapid files (our format). The zoo file is a much more conventional and stable file.

One way I know that zoo files can be slow when opening is if the template used is not in the 8.x format. If you are saving to 8.x format (zoo) then you should open your template file and then save as. It will then become a zoo template and will be faster. If it's an ACI template then there is a bunch of converting going on before it opens.

I hope this helps. As I said, our programmers are looking at ways to speed the zoo files up - they are more stable, but slower and we are aware of it."

In addition, I have been using the latest Beta version of V8.5 for several days now and THE PROBLEMS WITH ADDENDUM CRASHES has not happened, even once :!: :!: :!: :!: :!: :D :D :D :D :D

It may not be a hard limit on file size but the ACI format does get pretty unstable at file sizes over 5 meg.. We switch to the ZOO format for the occasional big report, most of the time we use the ACI format. The template save is a good idea and we will give it a try and see if that improves the speed. (We need to orginaize the templates anyway, but just can't seem to find the time.).

Thanks for the report.
