Is It Time To Revoke The Appraisal Foundation's Authority

Should the Appraisal Foundation's Private Authority over the Individual States be Revoked?

There is some weird analysis going on here. TAF has representatives from highly respected organizations, yet some from the same high respected organizations are trying to dismantle it. What the **** is going on really? Talk about division. Wow. Let's blame it on AMC's.

Maybe if the poll was broken down by appraisal organization member or not and which, we could get a little closer to the problem.

Given that TAF is supposed to deal with Real Estate, I....

The post starts with a false premise. Nothing limits TAF to real property. Congress has only recognized some of the work that TAF does in real property, but there is nothing that "limits" TAF to real property only. TAF has been a multi-disciplinary entity since its inception.

If they kept their focus on standards, I would agree. But they have no direct controls by the government, which gives a private entity too much power over the appraisal industry.

Congress actually has little real oversight. The ASC simply submits an annual report. Not much is done with that report, I guess.

(Just like the Federal Reserve, which is propping up the entire economy by buying governmental debt without the oversight of Congress. But this is a topic of conversation for another thread.)

The ASC does far more than just send an annual report. I can attest to that from first hand experience. During my time as ASB chair I spent a lot of time addressing the auditing/scrutiny of the ASC.

You know far more than most, but I agree totally with the first part of your statement. The last part I have not clue so I will take your word for it. If that is true, then we need some way bigger consumer oriented reps on TAF. With proven track records. Icons relative to community service, service to Our Country and the Constitution. People like Rosa Parks to begin with and go from there.

Can we get a clone of honest Abe as chair while we are at it? Seems possible to me. There are some amazing people living today. They just aren't in the right places. That is a failure of management in many cases and the people in others. Structure and order is very important too.

Structure and order are out of wack which is causing all sorts of imbalance in the market and industry. I have worked in enough companies to know that when management, structure and order get out of wack things get screwed up and changes are imminent..

And, remember this. It get's darkest before the dawn.

I never noticed before but that sure looks a young Dale Earnhardt. Now back to your regularly scheduled programming.
