Measurement wheel measures long on anything bumpy. Advise?

Best tape is Sokkia appraiser tape. The large double hooks will hook on anything, corner of the house, etc.

Laser is too affordable to spend time with a wheel.

Also to note is when you’re dealing with measuring devices, every device has to be calibrated from time to time. If you’re still using the same laser, you used two years ago I guarantee it is off by some percentage. And if we’re being asked to measure to the nearest 10th of a foot, Your laser isn’t doing that accurately. Nor is cubicasi or any other iPhone make believe measuring tool.

But I wouldn’t worry about it too much, they let unlicensed out of work agent and uber drivers perform appraisal inspection services these days. I doubt anyone cares too much about your measurements. if they did they’d be gigantic hypocrites.

Who goes into the tech world kicking and screaming holding onto the drapes? This guy! Still, I became a laser guy 9 years ago. I keep an old tape in my trunk for bright sunny days when the laser just can’t read anything. . Also, only way to measure a ceiling that might be less than 7 feet.
I tried using a laser. Probably only able to use it exclusively on about 25% of the properties I see. Always something in the way when using direct method. Indirect method is iffy to me since it requires a right angle to be accurate

Whichever device or method you use... just make sure to square it up in the car before driving away.
I approached a SFR one morning carrying my tiny folding ladder. Elderly lady comes out the house with "Good morning sir. My, that's a nice walker you got there." I'm thinking to myself, SOON ENOUGH!!

I have a Disto, a wheel, and two tapes if anyone wants to buy them all and compare side by side. :)

How do you measure ceiling height?
I have an extension rod a painter gave me, it has Velcro and works like a charm. BTW the last wheel I bought was a bad experience, I got it last summer from a retired SRA for $15. I knew something wasn't right because he took 3 days to call me back, said he couldn't make out my number that was big and bold on my fax cover page I sent with the offer. The wheel had cigarette burns and he didn't disclose that. Don't trust SRAs when it comes to high tech items.

You overpaid, I'd let you have mine for 10 bucks. Has whitewalls.

Twenty years ago that was funny, for me, not so much now. :)
